Dr. Gisele Biem Mori

Forest Ecologist | PhD, National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA), 2019

Dr. Gisele Biem Mori is collaborating with Dr. Evan Gora and Dr. Adriane Esquivel-Muelbert to study the dynamics of giant trees under the Gigante project. This research combines remote sensing techniques and field surveys to better understand the causes and consequences of giant tree mortality across multiple tropical forests. Dr. Biem Mori is based in Brazil as a postdoc researcher at Universidade do Estado de Mato Grossoand the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA).

Previous research

Dr. Biem Mori has a PhD in Ecology from the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA, Brazil). Her research was centered in community ecology of Amazonian floodplain forests, leading a pioneering study on these ecosystems with a functional approach. After her PhD, she continued developing research with functional ecology in Amazonia, seeking to understand the strategies of trees in natural and altered environments across different amazonian habitats.
