Hudson Data Jam - Data Basics for Educators and Student Advisors

This workshop is geared toward educators or parents of 4th-8th grade students participating in the Hudson Data Jam competition, but anyone interested in introducing basic data analysis skills to their students is welcome.

Cary Institute Educators Dr. Alan Berkowitz and Ashley Alred will guide participants through a series of basic data exploration and analysis activities using Google Sheets. During  this session, educators will learn how to guide students in getting to know their dataset. This will include skills like applying prior knowledge, understanding background information accompanying the dataset, and how to graph the data then interpret trends.
