Green Living Seminar - Forest Carbon Offsets: Too Good to Be True?

Dr. Charles Canham discusses fundamental flaws in how forest carbon offsets are awarded, the folly of granting offsets to already protected lands, and ecological limits on how much carbon US forests can sequester.

Dr. Canham is a forest ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and received his PhD from Cornell University. He studies forest response to factors including climate change, introduced pests and pathogens, logging regimes, and air pollution. In 2019 Canham was recognized for his distinguished service to the Ecological Society of America.
