WAMC's The Roundtable reports on renovations at Cary.

A center for environmental research in New York’s Hudson Valley will be renovating its headquarters.

The nonprofit Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies is reimagining its Millbrook campus to better advance ecological science. The renewed headquarters will have additional space for research and will be energy-efficient and eliminate reliance on fossil fuels. Sustainability is at the heart of the renovation plans. When the $13 million project is complete, the building will feature state-of-the-art health protections informed by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as touchless lighting, doors and faucets. Demolition and construction are slated to begin after Labor Day. During construction, Cary Institute’s trails and grounds will remain open to the public.
