Speaker: Dr. Vanessa Ezenwa, Yale University

On Thursday, Dec 7 @ 11am ET, join Cary Institute for a virtual scientific seminar by Dr. Vanessa Ezenwa.

Most individuals are rarely infected with a single disease-causing organism at any one time. Rather, simultaneous infections are the norm. Infectious diseases have historically been studied one at a time, but studies of concurrent infection (“coinfection”) are revealing the profound impact that pathogen-pathogen interactions can have on both the spread and impact of infectious diseases. This talk describes findings on the causes and consequences of pathogen interactions emerging from experimental and longitudinal studies of a wild mammal population.
