Breaking Buds and Colored Leaves Data

Breaking Buds and Colored Leaves Background Sheet

Background

Since 2009, the Cary Staff and community scientists have collected observational phenology data on Cary’s Fern Glen Phenology Trail and surrounding property. All year round, resident ecologist Vicky Kelly and her trained citizen scientists walk along the designated areas and take note of plants and their undergoing phenophase, following the National Phenology Network (NPN)'s protocols and submitting this data onto the NPN database. Collection remains ongoing. These data include first recorded "YES" dates for each of the plants on the Fern Glen Phenology Trail and outside the Plant Science Building.
